Some boats are created purely with fishing in mind. The Quintrex 530 Top Ender is one of these, but this vessel brings together everything that makes the sport so enjoyable - getting out on the water with your friends, family, and a big bucket of bait to catch a few whoppers are what it's all about! Not many know this better than Richard Norval, a man who is never more at home than tossing in a line and waiting for a bite with his children and grandchildren around him.
Richard recently took receipt of a lovely Quintrex 530 Top Ender, so we caught up with him to find out just how he is getting along with his new boat.
A favourite for fishing
Like the vast majority of Quintrex owners, Richard is very impressed with his vessel. This was a boat bought for fishing with the family, and on this front, it does not disappoint. One the hallmarks of the Quintrex brand is the stability of the right without sacrificing space or ease-of use, which is why it's always a favourite with fishing fans like Richard.
"This boat does exactly what I bought it for. It deals with all conditions it's encountered so far very well - if a nor'easter comes up, you've got no worries!"
"This boat does exactly what I bought it for. It deals with all conditions it's encountered so far very well - if a nor'easter comes up, you've got no worries! As far as use on rivers and lakes is concerned, you'll have no problems, it's really good," said Richard.
"We do a lot of crabbing at Lake Illawarra, when the winds blows over the lake as you head back out to pick up your traps, you tend to get hit with spray, and everyone on the boat gets soaked. My grandchildren get wet and cold, and that's not a nice experience for anyone, let alone young kids, and they want to come in. The trouble is, when the wind gets up and the water gets rough, that's when the crabs really come on, so you don't really want to be going home at this point. However, with the Quintrex 530 Top Ender, we don't have that problem - even in 40 km/h winds, everyone stays dry."
Richard has four grandchildren, and the 530 Top Ender has enough space for each of them to hold a fishing rod over the side without fear of them taking an eye out when casting - always good to know!
Ride on time
A enduring quality in any Quintrex boat is its stability - this brand glides through the water true as an arrow, with little rocking in even the most challenging conditions. So it is with Richard's 530 Top Ender:
"The boat does give a good ride, especially in lake and river conditions. I've owned a number of boats, but I've never had one where you remain completely dry. This one throws water away from the boat, so the chances of getting wet are drastically reduced," says Richard.

Happiness at Hunts Marine
As always, the team at Hunts Marine were on hand to help Richard in choosing his new boat, as well as reassure him over any concerns he had.
"We were very happy with the way we were treated at Hunts Marine by Blake and his staff. I wanted to find a place that was local, so that if I had any problems with the boat, I could take it in without trekking across Sydney. I also wanted a place where the mechanic had been in the job for a long time, as I'd had a couple of bad experiences at other places where the mechanics weren't up to the job. When I found out that (Hunts Marine mechanic) Justin had been there for quite a few years, that was a deal breaker for me."
When a man with the experience and skill of Richard talks about Hunts Marine and a boat in such a manner, you know you're onto a good thing. Contact the friendly, helpful team at Hunts Marine to find out more.
