It's no secret that the team at Hunts Marine have always placed great emphasis on outstanding customer service. Whether it's advising on the most suitable type of boat for your fishing expeditions, or carrying out repair work to the highest standard, the service our customers enjoy is a big reason they keep on returning.
When the time came to replace his trusty Quintrex 4.3 Fishabout - a boat he'd owned for nearly 30 years - Hunts Marine was Greg's first port-of-call.
Greg McCarthy is one customer who can attest to this. When the time came to replace his trusty Quintrex 4.3 Fishabout - a boat he'd owned for nearly 30 years - Hunts Marine was his first port-of-call. From the moment he began his enquiries to the day he took receipt of the boat and beyond, Brad Cottier and the team at Hunts Marine Batemans Bay looked after Greg to ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible.
We caught up with Greg to find out a little more about how his purchase is going, and the service he enjoyed.
G'day Greg. How are you finding your Quintrex 481 Fishabout?
"It's an an excellent boat. I've had a Quintrex Fishabout before, and because it's such a good boat, I've stuck with it - it's exactly what I want. You always know that you're going to get a stable ride with a Quintrex, but the hull on the 481 Fishabout is 200 per cent more stable than it has ever been. It's an absolutely brilliant boat, I'm very pleased with it."
The fact that Greg found the ride of the 481 Fishabout near-perfect will come as no surprise to those that have ridden in one of Quintrex's boats before - it's a real trademark of the brand. When we recently spoke to Richard Norval about his Quintrex 530 Top Ender, he too mentioned the smoothness of the ride, even when a big black nor'easter starts blowing.
What would you say is your favourite feature of your new boat?
"There's a lot to like about my boat, but one of my favourite parts is the walkthrough windscreen. You can walk right through to the bow, and this means that you can fish from the bow to the stern, no problem whatsoever - and I mainly use my boat for fishing, so that's a big bonus."
"I just think that the boat has been built better than most others - a quality craft."
"I really like that way it's built, and the extra space that this allows. I just think that the boat has been built better than most others - a quality craft."
You're an avid fisherman. How does the 481 Fishabout best suit your purposes?
"I had the 481 Fishabout set up exactly as I wanted it - live bait tanks, extra rod holders built in and more comfortable seats. This was all done in one go with Hunts Marine, so the boat was fully set up for fishing from the get-go. I also had a transom door put in the back of my boat, which would come in really handy if pulling in a really big fish, but I don't normally head out that far! What I really had the transom door put in for was to make it easier to get in and out the boat when it's parked in the garage - so there's no need to jump on the mudguard and climb over the top of it."
At Hunts Marine, we know that every boat is different - and so are each of our customer's requirements. That's why we will always tailor each boat precisely to your needs, so that when you take delivery, it will be ready to head out onto the water exactly as you have specified.
How did you find the overall purchasing process at Hunts Marine?
"I've had dealings with Brad over at Hunts Marine before, and I think that he has more knowledge than any other salesperson I've ever been to. His people skills are A1 - he speaks very well, he's extremely patient, and he advises on important boating matters."

"Here's a big reason I went to Brad for my new boat: I was restricted for space in my garage, and I didn't want to leave my boat outside. I said to Brad that I'll buy the boat on the condition that it fits in my garage. What happened was, Brad actually towed an identical boat to the one I was after out to my house and parked it in my garage, before I had even bought it. It was around half a metre too long, so what he did was install a swing away draw bar so that it would fit. That sold me straight away."
Greg went on to mention the two skilled, experienced mechanics at the Batemans Bay establishment as another factor in his decision to purchase from Hunts Marine.
"Just walking around the place, you feel wanted, not just another number," he added.
Have you any other examples of Hunts Marine's customer service?
"I'm just about due for my first service, so I asked Brad when I should book it in. I told him that I would work around his timetable, as I know that it gets very busy around Christmas. He simply said to me 'you tell me when you want it in, and I'll get it in for you, no drama."
